Command and Conquer Relived

Interviews

INTERVIEWS:

Interviewee: Morpher (TO Leader)

Interviewer: Republic_Commando_401 (C&C-Relived Web Master)

News Description: For the first time ever, TO leader "Morpher" had been interviewed by C&C-Relived, a Fan site which recently premiered on PPM. Morpher was nice enough to give up some of his time to answer a few questions about the current development of TO.

Morpher joins us via MSN from Australia:

C&C-Relived:

Firstly, give us a brief introduction about Morpher. who is Morpher and what is your role in Tiberian Oddyssey?

Morpher:

My name is Ryan, I'm 18 years old living in Adelaide Australia, I started the Mod Tiberian Odyssey and take the role of Leader, Coder and some graphics.

C&C-Relived:

Please describe Tiberian Odyssey, what are the main goals of this mod?

Morpher:

The mod was initially called Tiberium Odyssey, and I wanted to expand TS a little bit like an expansion pack. Eventually the name Tiberian Odyssey was used, and the development team grew much larger and so did our plans and ideas. Tiberian Odyssey is set after Firestorm, approximately around 2041. You could say it's our own version of CnC 3. We hope to continue the Tiberium storyline in our own vision, and push the limits of the Tiberian Sun engine through new graphics and squeezing as much logic and gameplay as we can out of the engine.

C&C-Relived:

Can we expect to see new sides, units and structures, or what about new gameplay style?

Morpher:

You will only be able to play as GDI and Nod mainly as we wanted to focus on these sides and not become too distracted trying to make other sides such as The Forgotten and CABAL playable and balanced. Of course, you will encounter the other factions such as the mutants, CABAL, Civilians and Tiberium wild life throughout the game and they will have their own style of units. GDI and Nod have a few new units, some are the original units revamped or have improved technology. The gameplay has been changed quite a bit, and will focus on players making smart decisions rather than spamming units to defeat an enemy. The players actions in the Tiberian Odyssey campaign will also heavily influence the path you take and how the campaign is played out.

C&C-Relived:

So, who are the staffs of this fantastic mod? anyone we might recognise from previous projects?

Morpher:

Tiberian Odyssey has (or had) some really great members of the community work on it throughout its 5 year history. Some noteable members are:

Muldrake: Muldrake was one of the people who really turned Tiberian Odyssey from a n00b mod into something more proffessional, he put a great deal of time and effort into this mod and really had some great ideas. I was also fortunate enough to meet him when he visited Australia, really a great guy.

TitanmkII: A great mapper as well as having an asortment of other
skills, Titan has been with Tiberian Odyssey from the early days and has really worked hard on the Story aspect of
the mod and has become a very good sountrack artist.

Gangster: The leader of Re:Wire, everybody knows of Gangster,
known for pulling fantastic graphics from literally nowhere,

DonutArnold: A 3d modeller for TO and numerous other projects, Donut has been on many projects and always produces quality 3d models for everything he has worked on.
He's working very hard currently on the Nod side of TO.

Orac: One of the more recent additions to the Odyssey team

CCHyper: Creator of HyperPatch

How is development progressing, do you have a release date pencilled in?

Morpher:

Development for the mod has been all over the place. We sometimes get huge bouts of activity and the massive downtime. With so many staff members coming and going it is very difficult to manage, but after 5 long years of development things are looking brighter than ever. Work is steadily coming in and progress is going very strong. I can't say a definate release date, but I can imagine beta tetsing will be very soon. and then massive downtime*

And finally, what is your favourite soft drink?

Morpher:

Back in the day it used to be sprite, but I've been swayed to the orange soft drinks of Fanta and Sunkist!
